Yachts Croatia No. 78 on Sale: Electric Efforts

4 minutes

Those among us who truly love the sea can look forward to exciting times, and with them comes a new issue of Yachts Croatia magazine, where time always flows differently and where you can indulge in various ways

Electrification has entered the world of boating in a big way. After timid attempts with boats with low autonomy, there are increasingly serious projects on the market, more and more serious engines, and yacht manufacturers adopting them. There are also attractive projects, like the futuristic ‘flying machine’ on the cover of the new Yachts issue that we successfully tested in Cannes and Monaco.

Although there is still no universal answer on how to replace internal combustion engines, electric motors are being used in more and more vessels. The combinations with existing drives in hybrid versions or with new fuels like methanol and hydrogen seem to have a promising future. Although the problem of storing electrical energy is far from being fully resolved, we live in an era of change, and the direction in which the nautical world is moving is positive, slow, rational, and environmentally friendly.

In the new Yachts issue, we celebrated half a century of success at the Pardo shipyard and once again witnessed the prestigious Cannes Yachting Festival, which this year introduced an exceptional fleet of nearly 700 boats with impressive ranges of lengths and styles.

Cres Island Adriatic Sea

We sailed the Northern Adriatic, crowned with a series of attractive islands such as Cres, Lošinj, Unije, and Susak. The bays that embellish it are a cocktail made from the most desirable ingredients.

Yet, when we found ourselves in that part of the Adriatic, we visited Poreč, a city that wins over its visitors with the Euphrasian Basilica, a well-preserved old town, and a rich offer of local food and interesting events. We also peeked into four Kvarner restaurants that offer a rich palette of gastronomic specialties, combining seafood and land ingredients. Yachting enthusiasts will enjoy the tests of the futuristic electric yachts with foiling fins: Tyde ICON, motor catamaran 70 Sunreef, Ferretti 580, Azimut Magellano 60, and Absolute 52 Fly. After a long time, we had the opportunity to sail the new Sea Ray 320 model.

There’s also a feature on innovative vessels that stand out with unique design and promise a completely new mobility experience in an exclusive environment, excellent comfort, and a serious commitment to reducing environmental impact.

A book on the forty years of the Jakopin brothers and their company is a true encyclopedia of nautical history, and during the Cannes fair, we had the opportunity to speak with Japec Jakopin and find out its most significant contents. We also spoke with the young entrepreneur and brand creator of Nerea Yachts, Dario Messina, and Domagoj Milišić, owner and director of Croatia Yachting, which, through the acquisition of a Polish company and projects in Turkey, has also become an international player.

In a conversation with the founder, designer, and owner, Hari Tabak, we symbolically marked the coming of age of the Croatian motor yacht brand Monachus. Through a conversation with Fred Bobek, whose company has been a hallmark for the Honda Marine program in Croatia for many years, we learned more about the new representation for Aquila catamarans and Highfield inflatable boats.
